Starting this global network we face many challenges. Just to mention a few:

  • To promote the development of SCI consumer groups and organisations in countries where resources are limited
  • To identify and formulate SCI agendas in these countries
  • To promote collaboration across organisations in resource-strong countries
  • To encourage cross-national / world regional collaborations by providing forums and venues where key people in the SCI consumer community can meet and discuss
  • To establish benchmarks for treatment, rehabilitation and care, facilities required to ensure community inclusion etc. – worldwide
  • Developing structures and systems where SCI consumer groups can record, monitor and report instances of human rights abuses of their members as is the right of representative organisations as outlined in the United Nations Convention People with Disabilities
  • Obtain resources to support the development of this important work
